3 Considerations for High Heat Exposure Metal Badges

One of the questions that is asked during nameplate quoting and design is the type of environment that the product is exposed to. This is very important especially for product identification exposed to high heat like smokers, grills and exhaust badges. Here are common considerations to keep in mind when designing nameplates for these type of products.

Temperature and Duration

When dealing with exposure to heat, it is important to know the parameters involved. What is the temperature range and how long is the expected exposure? Is it direct or indirect heat? The processes and top coats that are used can be developed to stand up to heat.

Attachment

Heat affects how well a bond is able to be created between two surfaces if adhesive or glue is used. As a result, the most common attachment method for nameplates and badges on products exposed to extreme heat involves rivets or screws. This mechanical solution is secure in keeping the badge in place.

Material

The material of choice for badges with applications exposed to heat is metal. Aluminum is lightweight and durable. It stands up to being exposed to outside elements, heat and chemicals. Metal nameplates can be fabricated so that just about any shape can be achieved and then enhanced with embossed graphics for a memorable badge.

These aluminum nameplates are great examples of effective branding for high heat application. They are applied with rivets directly onto the exhaust of power sports equipment. The brand is carried over from part to part no matter what model of exhaust. This is further example of maximizing the custom emboss enhancements to enforce brand awareness.
