When it comes to attaching product identification, pressure sensitive adhesive is not only one of the most popular solutions across the industry - it's also the most common attachment method used here at McLoone. Reliable, clean, and easy to apply, pressure sensitive adhesive offers a strong performance but only when stored and applied properly. To make sure your nameplates and labels stay put, follow these five essential tips:
1. Keep it Cool, Clean, and Consistent
Proper storage matters! Labels with pressure sensitive adhesive should be stored in a clean, dry, environment at room temperature; ideally around 72°F with a 50% relative humidity.
2. Indoor Application is Best
Cold weather and outdoor environments can make the adhesives less cooperative. For best results, apply your product identification indoors where the temperature is controlled. Make sure the adhesive and the surface are both at room temperature, and that the surface is at least 50°F when applying.
3. Handle with Care
Avoid touching the adhesive with your fingers, natural oils and dirt can interfere with bonding. Also, keeping dust and debris far away from the sticky side.
4. Prep the Surface like a Pro
Before applying the nameplate or label, be sure the surface is clean and dry. Remove the release liner and press the label firmly into place. Pressure is key! This helps activate the adhesive and starts the bonding process.
5. Patience Pays Off
Pressure sensitive adhesive doesn't reach its full holding power instantly. Allow 72 hours for the adhesive to form a strong, lasting bond with the surface.
